What is MOTS-c Capsules?
MOTS-c (mitochondrial open reading frame of the 12S rRNA type-c) is encoded by a short reading frame in mitochondrial 12S rRNA. The peptide has the sequence MRWQEMGYIFYPRKLR and was described in 2015. In capsule form the substance comes in a constant amount per capsule, which makes standardised test series without reconstitution easier.

State of research
MOTS-c was described in 2015 by Changhan Lee's group at the University of Southern California. In mice it improved insulin sensitivity and protected against weight gain on a high-fat diet; activation of the energy sensor AMPK is the proposed mechanism. Later work (Reynolds et al., 2021) showed that exercise raises MOTS-c levels and that the peptide improved physical capacity in older mice.
These studies gave MOTS-c by injection. Whether a peptide of this size reaches the blood intact after oral intake has not been studied. Capsules suit experiments on stability, release and breakdown in digestion models. The overall evidence is described in MOTS-c in research.
Status and quality
MOTS-c is not approved as a medicine and is on the WADA Prohibited List. Peptidkauf sells MOTS-c Capsules solely as a research reagent for laboratory and in-vitro use and gives no dosing or application advice.
An independent laboratory tests every batch for identity and content before it goes on sale; the reports and their verification keys are in the lab report archive. Store the capsules dry, protected from light and at room temperature; no reconstitution is needed.
