What is P021?
P021 is based on a CNTF segment extended with an adamantyl-glycine to increase stability and brain penetration.

State of research
P021 comes from the New York State Institute for Basic Research, from the group of Khalid Iqbal and Inge Grundke-Iqbal. The aim was a small molecule that mimics the neurotrophic action of CNTF without its side effects and with better brain penetration.
In transgenic mouse models of Alzheimer's disease, where P021 was partly given in the diet, the authors described more new neurons in the hippocampus, higher BDNF levels, less pathologically altered tau and better memory test performance. The results come mostly from one group; there are no human data.
Status and quality
P021 is not approved as a medicine. Peptidkauf sells P021 solely as a research reagent for laboratory and in-vitro use and gives no dosing or application advice.
