N-Acetyl Semax Amidat
N-terminally acetylated, C-terminally amidated form of Semax with higher stability against peptidases.
| Substance class | Peptide |
|---|---|
| Sequence | Ac-MEHFPGP-NH2 |
| Synonyms | NA-Semax-NH2 |
Structure
N-Acetyl Semax Amidate has the Semax sequence (MEHFPGP) with an acetyl group at the N-terminus and an amide at the C-terminus. Both terminal modifications slow degradation by exopeptidases.
State of research
Research questions follow Semax: BDNF expression, neuroprotection in ischaemia models and melanocortin-family signalling. Studies specifically on the acetylated form are rare.
Status
N-Acetyl Semax is not approved as a medicinal product.
