What is SLU-PP-332?
SLU-PP-332 was developed at Saint Louis University, hence the abbreviation. It is a small molecule (C18H14N2O2, 290.3 g/mol, CAS 303760-60-3) that activates all three oestrogen-related receptors, most strongly ERRα. Despite the name, ERRs do not bind oestrogen; they control genes for mitochondrial energy production and fat oxidation in muscle and heart.
Research status
From 2023 the group published mouse studies: animals given SLU-PP-332 ran longer and further, their muscles shifted towards oxidative fibres, and obese mice lost fat mass and insulin resistance. These results come from a few studies by one group and exclusively from animal models; there are no human or safety data.
Status
SLU-PP-332 is not an approved medicine and is not in clinical development. We sell it exclusively as a research reagent. It is also available as tablets.
