Structure
Semaglutide is a 31-amino-acid peptide with 94 % homology to human GLP-1. An Aib residue at position 2 protects against DPP-4 degradation, and a C18 fatty-acid side chain on Lys26 mediates albumin binding.
State of research
Research covers GLP-1 receptor activation, glucose-dependent insulin secretion, gastric emptying and central appetite signalling. Large clinical trial programmes have been published.
Status
Semaglutide is an approved medicinal substance. The material offered here is a research reagent, not a medicinal product.
