Kisspeptin-10
Kisspeptin-10, the C-terminal decapeptide of the kisspeptins and ligand of the KISS1R (GPR54) receptor, a key signal of the gonadotropic axis.

Structure
Kisspeptins derive from the precursor protein of the KISS1 gene. Kisspeptin-10 (YNWNSFGLRF-NH₂) is the shortest fully active fragment.
Research focus
Via KISS1R, kisspeptin controls GnRH release in the hypothalamus and thereby puberty and the hypothalamic–pituitary–gonadal axis. Effects on metastasis (original name: metastin) and metabolism are also studied.
Status
No marketing authorisation in the EU; kisspeptin is used as a tool in clinical research.
