Adipotide

Peptidomimetic combining a prohibitin-binding targeting peptide with a pro-apoptotic sequence, developed to study the blood vessels of adipose tissue.

Substance classPeptide
CAS number859216-15-2
Molecular formulaC₁₁₁H₂₀₆N₃₆O₂₈S₂
Molar mass2,557.2 g/mol
SynonymsProhibitin-TP01, FTPP
PubChemCID 163360068

Structure

Adipotide (also FTPP or prohibitin-TP01) links a cyclic targeting sequence (CKGGRAKDC), which binds prohibitin on endothelial cells of white adipose tissue, to the membrane-disrupting sequence D(KLAKLAK)₂.

Research focus

Rodent and primate models studied how targeted damage to adipose vasculature changes fat mass and metabolic parameters. Effects on kidney function were also described.

Status

The data are preclinical; there is no authorisation.
