Structure
Thymogen is the dipeptide EW (L-glutamyl-L-tryptophan). It was described in the Soviet Union as part of research on thymic peptides.
Research focus
Studies examine immunomodulatory effects on T-cell differentiation and cytokines and – under the name oglufanide – anti-angiogenic effects in tumour models.
Status
Registered as a medicine in Russia; there is no authorisation in the EU.
