Structure
MGF refers to the C-terminal E-peptide of the IGF-1 splice variant IGF-1Ec, which is produced in muscle after mechanical load. PEGylation extends the half-life of the otherwise rapidly degraded peptide.
State of research
Research covers activation of muscle satellite cells, repair after muscle damage and neuro- and cardioprotective effects in animal models.
Status
PEG-MGF is not approved as a medicinal product and is on the WADA Prohibited List.
