Structure
GHRP-6 (His-D-Trp-Ala-Trp-D-Phe-Lys-NH₂) was developed from enkephalin analogues before the ghrelin receptor was known; research on it contributed substantially to the discovery of GHS-R1a and ghrelin.
Research focus
Besides GH release, studies examine appetite-regulating effects via the ghrelin pathway and cytoprotective effects in heart and liver models.
Status
No marketing authorisation; WADA lists GH secretagogues in category S2.
